21 Years in the Subsurface — From Majors to Startups

I'm the founder of Argo Exploration, an independent geologic consultancy. My career spans both ends of the industry: disciplined, resource-rich major operators and small, fast-moving independents where one geologist wears every hat.

I started my career at Dominion Energy, then moved to XTO Energy, staying on through its acquisition by ExxonMobil — early exposure to how a major evaluates and integrates assets at scale.

From there I joined Laredo Petroleum, where I helped build out the company's unconventional development program while working in business development. While in business development I was one of the lead geologists on the Broad Oak acquisition, evaluating and integrating a significant new asset base.

Most recently, I was the geologist at Headington Energy Partners, joining as the only geologist while the team rebuilt out its operations group from the ground up. As the team grew — eventually adding a second geologist — we identified, acquired, and developed assets across the Permian Basin and Webb County. Headington Energy Partners, being an established company had assets across the nation. This provided exposure to multiple basins across the North American continent.

That range — major-company rigor combined with independent-company speed — is what I bring to every non-op review, prospect evaluation, and mineral assessment through Argo Exploration.

Considering a non-op package, an acquisition, or a mineral position?

Let's talk through the geology before you make the call.
